12 ways we can help

Each service is guidance on your own work: explanation, feedback, planning or language editing. Scope and timing are agreed in writing before anything starts.

  • Assignment Guidance & Feedback

We help you understand the task, plan your answer and see how to improve your own draft before you submit it.

Suits: Students with a new task type, unclear brief or earlier feedback saying "did not answer the question".

  • Academic Editing & Proofreading

We correct and explain language problems in your finished draft, so your own ideas come across clearly.

Suits: Students with a complete draft, especially those writing in English as an additional language.

  • Thesis & Dissertation Guidance

We support you through your whole thesis, helping you plan, stay on track and understand feedback, while you do the research and writing.

Suits: Bachelor's, master's and doctoral students working on a long, independent research project.

  • Chapter-wise Feedback & Research Structure

We read one chapter closely and explain how its structure and logic could be clearer, so you can revise it yourself.

Suits: Students with a draft chapter, or a chapter their supervisor has sent back for changes.

  • Research Paper & Project Guidance

We help you turn a research idea into a clear, manageable plan and give feedback on the paper or proposal you write.

Suits: Students writing a research paper, project report, case study or proposal for the first time.

  • Literature Review Planning & Source Evaluation

We show you how to search for, judge and organise academic sources, then comment on the literature review you write.

Suits: Students writing a literature review or review chapter who feel lost in their reading.

  • Research Gap & Research Question Development

We help you find what is missing in existing research and shape a clear question you can actually answer.

Suits: Students who have a topic but not yet a clear, focused research question.

  • Qualitative & Quantitative Methodology Guidance

We explain research methods so you can choose one that fits your question, justify it, and understand your own results.

Suits: Students planning research or writing a methodology chapter who feel unsure about methods.

  • Citation, Referencing & Plagiarism Awareness

We help you cite sources correctly and understand what counts as plagiarism, so you can check your own work with confidence.

Suits: Students switching referencing style, or worried about citation errors and unintentional plagiarism.

  • Academic Writing, Critical Thinking & Argument Development

We help you think more critically and argue more clearly, by explaining what your draft does well and where it could go further.

Suits: Students told their writing is "too descriptive" or "lacks argument", at any level.

  • Presentation & Academic Communication Guidance

We help you present your own work clearly, on slides, in reports and when answering questions, with feedback and practice.

Suits: Students with an assessed presentation, poster, report or thesis defence coming up.

  • Research Workflow & Responsible AI-Use Guidance

We help you set up a clear way of working on research and understand how to use AI tools honestly and within your university's rules.

Suits: Students who feel disorganised, or unsure what AI use their university allows.

Academic guidance at AcademicDude means working alongside you on your own assignments, dissertations and research, rather than doing them for you. We explain what a task is asking, help you plan, read your drafts as an informed outside reader, and show you how to improve. The skills stay with you after the deadline has passed.

Our services are designed for international university students, especially those studying in Germany, France, the UK and Australia, as well as elsewhere, where expectations around argument, independent research and referencing can feel very different from what you are used to.

What academic guidance means here

Guidance sits between the support your university offers and the work you produce. Your tutors and supervisors set the task and mark it. Your library and study skills teams teach general skills. We add focused, one-to-one attention on your piece of work, at the stage where you need it.

In practice, guidance usually takes one or more of these forms:

  • Explaining. Making sense of a brief, a marking rubric, a method or a piece of supervisor feedback.
  • Planning. Turning a task into a structure, a word allocation and a schedule you can follow.
  • Feedback. Reading your draft and telling you clearly what works, what does not and why.
  • Language editing. Improving the clarity, grammar and consistency of writing you have completed, with every change visible.

Many projects need more than one type of help at different stages. For example, a student might use proposal guidance in the autumn, dissertation guidance during data collection and editing before submission. Each stage is quoted separately, so you only arrange what you need.

The integrity boundary

Every service has the same foundation: you are the author of your assessed work. We do not write, complete or rewrite assignments, essays, chapters or reports for submission. We do not supply research ideas, sources or data for you to present as your own, and we do not promise grades, approvals or any plagiarism or AI-detection result.

This is not only a policy for our protection. Students can be asked to explain and defend their work, in a viva, an oral check or follow-up questions from a marker. Guidance that builds your own understanding prepares you for that; work produced by someone else does not. Each service page sets out its own specific limits, and our academic integrity page explains our approach in full.

Responsible use of AI tools

Generative AI is now part of many students' study habits, and universities are responding with very different rules. Some permit AI for brainstorming or language checks, some require you to declare any use, and some prohibit it for particular assessments.

Within those rules, we can help you understand how AI tools might reasonably support your learning, for example by explaining a concept you will then verify in reliable sources, or by suggesting questions to test your own understanding. We can also help you read your university's AI policy and reference AI use correctly where that is required.

We do not produce AI-written work for submission, and we do not paraphrase or "humanise" text to avoid detection. If you are unsure whether a particular use of AI is permitted, your module leader or university guidance is the final authority.

How to get started

Send a short description of what you are working on, your level of study, your deadline and any relevant files through the contact form, or email [email protected]. We read your request, ask any questions we need, and send a quote that confirms the scope, format and timing. There is no fixed price list, because every request is different.

To see each stage in more detail, read how it works. If you would like to build your skills independently first, the Writing Centre and our free tools are open to everyone.

Questions

Before you ask

What does academic guidance from AcademicDude include?

Academic guidance means helping you understand and improve your own work. Depending on what you need, we can explain an assignment brief, help you plan a structure, give feedback on a draft, guide your research approach or edit for language, clarity and formatting. You stay the author throughout. You can see the full range on our services overview.

What is the difference between editing and rewriting?

Editing improves how your existing writing communicates: grammar, spelling, punctuation, sentence clarity, consistency and formatting. Rewriting changes your ideas, arguments or content, and for assessed work that would no longer be your own writing. We edit and comment; where an argument needs developing, we explain the issue so that you can revise it yourself. Our editing and proofreading service describes this in more detail.

What does proofreading cover?

Proofreading is a final check of a nearly finished draft for errors in spelling, grammar, punctuation, consistency and layout. It does not change your argument or structure. If your university has its own proofreading policy, please send it to us, as some institutions limit the kind of changes a third party may make. The proofreading checklist can help you do a first pass yourself.

How long will it take?

It depends on the length and type of work, the kind of help you need and your deadline. We confirm a realistic timeline in your quote before you agree to anything. If we cannot meet your deadline properly, we tell you rather than rushing the work. Contacting us early gives you the most options.

Are revisions or follow-up questions included?

It depends on the request: your quote states exactly which follow-up is included, so you know before you start. The scope depends on the service and what you have asked for. If you are unsure whether something is covered, ask us before you agree and we will explain.

How much does it cost?

We do not have a fixed price list. Every request is different, so we send you a quote based on what you need, the length of the work and your timeline. You can request a quote through our contact form, and you are under no obligation to go ahead.

Not sure which service fits?

Describe your task in a few lines. We reply with questions and a suggestion, and nothing starts unless you agree to a written scope and quote.
